Chef Tanya's Kitchen

Tanya Petrovna, original founder of the vegan chain Native Foods, has opened Chef Tanya's Kitchen in Palm Springs offering counter service of delicious plant-based dishes that will appeal to even non-vegans. We love the Chupacabra Chicken sandwich (thinly sliced seitan filets, avocado, cilantro, house-pickled jalapenos, lettuce, roasted tomato, onion, chipotle mayo on a torpedo roll), or try one of the many deli salads, like the Moroccan Chop (local sweet potatoes, cauliflower, chick peas, parsley, red onion, Moroccan vinaigrette, currants, almonds, Flying Disc dates, green olives). You can also pick up packaged items like house-made seitan and vegan cheese, as well as dinner to go on Wednesday evenings, when the kitchen stays open late until 8pm.

Located in the Corridor shopping center next to Koffi, Mod Cafe has casual indoor and patio seating and a menu featuring healthy, organic fare for breakfast and lunch, as well as dinner service starting in mid-October. Some suggested combos from the Burgerim team include a turkey burger on their signature bun or gluten free bun with pineapple, lettuce and tomato, or a Merguez (spicy beef) burger with house sauce, jalapeno and a sunny side up egg. Counter Reformation

counter reformation palm springs

The folks at the Parker Palm Springs may have put it best: “A shrine to great wine. After one visit, you will be a convert.” They’re talking about Counter Reformation, the new-ish wine bar and small plates hotspot at the Parker, where it’s bar service only in the small but stylish space that features an antique confessional booth at one end. You really can’t go wrong with anything on their curated menu of wines and bites. We particularly love the avocado, haloumi and rye tartine with shaved iberico – so, so good!

COMING SOON:

Some exciting new spots are on the horizon.

The Kimpton Rowan is on track to open this fall in the heart of downtown Palm Springs, with two new restaurants located inside the hotel, helmed by executive chef Stephen Wambach. On the first floor next to the lobby there will be Juniper Table, serving casual, Mediterranean-inspired fare and house-baked goods for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The second restaurant, 4 Saints, is located on the seventh floor by the hotel’s rooftop pool, where diners can enjoy expansive views of the valley. 4 Saints will serve dinner daily, with a casual yet refined menu featuring Mediterranean cuisine with French influences inspired by Chef Wambach’s time working abroad.

Another in-hotel eatery on the way this fall is AC3 Restaurant + Bar at Hotel Paseo in Palm Desert. AC3 is a collaboration between two local restaurateurs – Tony Marchese, owner of TRIO in Palm Springs, and Chef Andrew Copley, owner of Copley’s in Palm Springs. The restaurant will feature classic comfort food made contemporary by infusing elements from Chef Copley’s 20-plus-years of culinary experience around the world.

If you’re a fellow sushi lover, you’ll be anxiously awaiting the opening of Sandfish in Palm Springs! Part of the ARRIVE hotel family, which currently includes the Reservoir and Draughtsman restaurants, Sandfish will be located across from the hotel on North Palm Canyon.

Grand Central Palm Springs is slated to open soon in the heart of downtown Palm Springs, serving contemporary American cuisine from a space that was the site of Palm Springs’ original 1930s department store, Desmond’s. They’re planning to serve breakfast (available all day), lunch and dinner, with varied menus that feature comfort-inspired favorites with a modern twist.
